A lot of backyards in the Auburn area have the same problem - a patio that was fine when the house was built, but just doesn't cut it anymore. Not enough room to grill, sit, and still move around. The original slab here was small and left very little usable space for the homeowners to actually enjoy their yard.

We extended the patio out significantly, pouring new concrete flatwork that tied seamlessly into what was already there. Getting the grade right, making sure the joints were clean, and keeping the edges sharp - that's the kind of detail work that separates a solid pour from one that starts showing problems in a few years. Concrete flatwork done right is pretty straightforward, but it has to be done right.

The railing was a big part of this job too. The elevated slab needed a safe perimeter, and the black cable railing we installed checks that box without blocking the view of the yard. From the patio, the homeowners now look out over a really nice piece of property. That view would have been wasted without the extra space to actually sit and take it in.

What these homeowners ended up with is a backyard setup that actually works. Room for chairs, a grill, potted plants, and company. The patio feels like an intentional part of the home now - not just a slab you step out onto and immediately feel cramped on. That's the goal on every job like this.
